On August 17 at 5 p.m., at Centre d’artistes Vaste et Vague in Carleton-sur-Mer, the public can attend the vernissage of the exhibit Stripes and Stripes by Nick Kline (New York, New York) and the launch of the monograph L’Appel (SAGAMIE Édition d’art) by Maryse Goudreau (Pointe-à-la-Croix, the Gaspé).
On August 18 at noon, at the rest area in Cap-Chat, the vernissage for the exhibit Imperial Valley by Christian Lamontagne (Sainte-Félicité, Québec) and for Gaspesian Women by Jean-François Bérubé (Montreal, Québec) and Sophie Jean (Rimouski, Québec) is taking place.
On August 18 at 7 p.m., at the recreation center in Marsoui, the official opening evening of the Rencontres professional week will unfold. A projection of the work of Normand Rajotte (Montreal, Québec) and of Ewa Monika Zebrowski (Montréal, Quebec) will be presented, and the artists will talk with the public about the interpretation of day-to-day life in photography.
August 19 at 10 a.m., in the heart of the municipality of Rivière-à-Claude, will feature the vernissage of the first stage of the Platform project by Serge Clément as part of the Parcours du Point de vue. The artist will present his project, and a discussion with the public will take place over breakfast. That activity will be followed, at 2 p.m., by a guided tour of La Presse: Current events from 1990 to 2012, a 100-photo exhibit in Grande-Vallée, on the Galipeault covered bridge. In the evening, on the theme of “The artist – architect of change!,” the public can attend a projection and a lecture on the artistic career of Edward Burtynsky (Toronto, Ontario), of Gabor Szilasi and of Doreen Lindsay (Montreal, Québec) at 7 p.m. on the outdoor stage of the Musée de la Gaspésie in the town of Gaspé.
On August 20 at 2 p.m., in the park at the courthouse in Percé, the vernissage will be held for the second stage of the Platform project by Serge Clément (Montreal, Québec) as part of the Parcours du Point de vue. The public can hear a presentation by the artist about his project, carried out over a more than 20-year period in the Gaspé and the Magdalen Islands, and discuss it with him. At 6 p.m., people can take part in Event for the memory of the docks by Maryse Goudreau (Pointe-à-la-Croix, the Gaspé) on the CTMA dock in Chandler. A get-together on the site of the photo installations by Guillaume D. and Yana Ouellet (Quebec City, Québec), Gaspésie Human Less (part 1), will take place in the second part of the evening, near the marina.
On August 21 at 7 p.m., at the Banc-de-Pêche-de-Paspébiac historic site (in Paspébiac), a projection of the work of Jocelyne Alloucherie (Montreal, Québec) and of Flora (Paris, France) will be held in the presence of these artists, who will talk about their careers.
On August 22 at 7 p.m. at the Bonaventure marina a projection and a get-together will be held with Vanessa Winship (London, U.K.) and then with Eli Laliberté (Cascapédia–Saint-Jules, the Gaspé). Aurore and Parfum de lumière, two short films by Serge Clément (Montreal, Québec), will be screened afterwards.
On August 23 at 7 p.m., at the Saint-Laurent-de-Matapédia church (in Matapedia), a projection of the work of Guy Lavigueur (Montréal, Québec) will be held, as well as of that of Roger Proulx (Montreal, Québec), in addition to a discussion on their various creation projects.
On August 24 at 5:30 p.m. at Centre d’artistes Vaste et Vague in Carleton-sur-Mer, on the theme of “Photojournalism: Its future and its practice,” a get-together and discussion will take place with Anja Niedringhaus (Geneva, Switzerland), Martin Beaulieu (Montreal, Québec) and Martin Tremblay (La Presse, Montreal, Québec).
On August 25 at 10 a.m., at the Saint-Omer rest area, Rencontres offers a visit to the exhibit by Martin Beaulieu (Montreal, Québec), followed by a breakfast get-together with Aislinn Leggett (Montreal, Québec) at Place du Marché (yard of the Petite École) in Nouvelle. Finally, at 6 p.m., under the tent at the Parc du Vieux-Quai in Maria, the public can take part in the closing evening of the Rencontres professional week, presented in collaboration with the Municipality of Maria. Jean-François Nadeau, director of the cultural pages at the newspaper Le Devoir, will comment on the exhibit Le Devoir: Current events from 1990 to 2012, which presents 122 photos in Maria. Moreover, a selection of photographs by all the artists participating in the 3rd edition of Rencontres will be presented on a large screen.

A reminder that until September 10, the public is invited to follow the artistic trajectory of over 30 photographers from here and elsewhere in the 14 host municipalities presenting exhibit-installations: Cap-Chat, Marsoui, Rivière-à-Claude, Grande-Vallée, Gaspé, Percé, Chandler, Paspébiac, Bonaventure, New Richmond, Maria, Carleton-sur-Mer, Nouvelle and Matapedia.
